The pulmonary research community, along with advocates, health care providers, and patients have honored and celebrated the 50th anniversary of the NHLBI’s Division of Lung Diseases (DLD). There was even a singing endorsement from the Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome community.
Over the last 50 years, DLD’s funded research has led to critical findings in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of lung diseases. A perspective in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine captures the arch of these discoveries.
The importance of this research and how it touches people’s lives are reflected in the support, congratulations, and encouragement DLD has received throughout the anniversary year, and the media coverage illustrates it.
