Description
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is hosting a 1-day virtual workshop titled " Unraveling Sepsis: Thrombo-Inflammation Mechanisms, Health Inequities, and AI/ML Frontiers” – on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (EST). Participants will explore the interplay between the immune system and coagulation pathways, how these interactions contribute to sepsis progression and organ failure and identify potential therapeutic targets.
Key Objectives:
Health Disparities in Sepsis Treatment: Examine how common comorbidities affect sepsis progression, treatment, and outcomes. Identify the root causes of these disparities.
Thrombo-Inflammation Mechanisms in Sepsis: Study the interaction between the immune system, coagulation pathways, and blood cells, and how this contributes to sepsis and organ failure. Identify therapeutic targets. outcomes.
AI and ML in Sepsis Research: Investigate how AI and ML can predict sepsis onset, evaluate prognosis, predict mortality, and optimize management for early and individualized intervention.
For logistical questions or to request reasonable accommodations to participate in this event, please email NHLBIWorkshopSupport@nih.gov with "Unraveling Sepsis: Thrombo-Inflammation Mechanisms, Health Inequities, and AI/ML Frontiers meeting" in the subject line. Requests must be made five (5) business days in advance.
