The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is hosting a two-day virtual workshop titled "A Life Course Approach to Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Health Research: Critical Challenges, Innovations, and Opportunities” on Tuesday, December 3rd, and Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST. This workshop will explore physical activity research from pregnancy to older adulthood, with an emphasis on reviewing alternatives to moderate-to-vigorous exercise, discussing health equity issues, and setting future physical activity priorities.
Key Objectives:
- Across the Lifespan Approach: Explore recent breakthroughs in physical activity research that expand and integrate the concept of physical activity from during pregnancy through early life and adolescence to all stages of adulthood.
- Health Equity Focus: Examine physical activity research through the lens of cultural and underrepresented groups to highlight how health equity must remain a high priority.
- Future Directions: Account for current challenges and innovative strategies to identify research opportunities that will continue to propel the field forward.
