Description

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is hosting a highly anticipated, thought-provoking, and interactive two-day virtual workshop on November 14-15, 2024. The workshop, entitled “Heterogeneity and Sex/Gender Differences in Obstructive Sleep Apnea: Personalized Approaches to Diagnosis, Treatment, and Implementation” is designed to explore the intricacies of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and the diverse aspects of its diagnosis and treatment. The primary objective of this workshop is to explore how personalized and precision-based approaches can be integrated into sleep medicine therapies. Furthermore, the workshop aims to elucidate how identifying unique subtypes and characteristics of OSA can pave the way for individualized treatment strategies across the lifespan and particularly in communities that bear a disproportionate burden of the adverse effects of this condition. This workshop is an important event for professionals and individuals keen on gaining insight into the latest advancements and future directions in the diagnosis and management of OSA.
