Description
As part of its 10th anniversary celebration, the Center for Translation Research and Implementation Science (CTRIS) presents the December 2024 HERO lecture entitled, “Centering Health Equity in Dissemination and Implementation Research”. Three esteemed panelists, Rinad S. Beidas, Ph.D. (Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine), Gbenga Ogedegbe, M.D., M.P.H. (New York University Grossman School of Medicine), and Lilia Cervantes, M.D. (University of Colorado School of Medicine), will explore this topic in the context of both domestic and global research, including discussions on how community-partnered research can lead to sustainable and meaningful impact in communities that experience health disparities.
The lecture will conclude with a Q&A session moderated by Cara Lewis, Ph.D., Deputy Director, Center for Translation Research and Implementation Science (NHLBI).
Speakers
Rinad S. Beidas, Ph.D.
Dr. Beidas is Chair & Ralph Seal Paffenbarger Professor of Medical Social Sciences at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Her research leverages insights from implementation science and behavioral economics to make it easier for clinicians, leaders, and organizations to use best practices to improve the quality and equity of care and enhance health outcomes.
Gbenga Ogedegbe, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Ogedegbe is the founding director of the Institute for Excellence in Health Equity (IEHE) at NYU Langone Health and the Dr. Adolph & Margaret Berger Professor of Medicine and Population Health at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He has led numerous NIH-funded studies for cardiovascular disease risk reduction with a focus on developing and evaluating clinic-community linkage models of care to address inequities in health outcomes.
Lilia Cervantes, M.D.
Dr. Lilia Cervantes is a tenured professor in the Department of Medicine and the Director of Immigrant Research at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Cervantes is recognized for pioneering community participatory research that has resulted in transformative changes to Medicaid payment policies and healthcare regulations in Colorado.
