Description
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is hosting a two-day virtual workshop titles "Disparities Across the Spectrum of Pulmonary Vascular Disease (PVD)" on October 22-23, 2024. This two-day event will explore the intersection of race, ethnicity, sex, gender, and social determinants of health in relation to outcomes, and access to care, with an emphasis on underrepresented populations and the impact of structural racism. Key discussions will also focus on biological mechanisms, intersectionality, and innovative strategies to address these gaps in real-time.
This workshop is open to clinicians, researchers, public health professionals, and anyone with an interest in reducing health disparities in pulmonary vascular disease. The event will feature distinguished speakers from academia, government, and clinical practice, who will share insights from the latest research, including findings from large cohort studies like the NHLBI Pulmonary Vascular Disease Phenomics (PVDomics) cohort and the Jackson Heart Study.
