Join the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) for an HIV program webinar on March 30, 2023, at 1 p.m. ET. Our featured speaker will be Lishan Su, Ph.D., the Charles Gordon Smith Endowed Professor for HIV Research and director of the Division of Virology, Pathogenesis and Cancer at the University Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Su is also interim director of the immunotherapy division in the university’s Institute of Human Virology and professor of pharmacology, microbiology, and immunology. He will discuss the roles of inflammation and aging in HIV-associated diseases with various organ systems.
Dr. Su’s research focuses on human immunity and inflammatory diseases, specifically how HIV-1 and HBV interact with immune cells to cause inflammatory disease. His lab develops antibody and cell-based drugs targeting novel immune cells and signaling pathways.
This online seminar is part of a series that aims to facilitate information-sharing and stimulate scientific exchange in HIV-focused heart, lung, blood, and sleep research. The series is supported by the NHLBI HIV/AIDS Program, which leads global research, training, and education programs on HIV-related heart, lung, blood, and sleep (HLBS) disorders, as well as blood-based therapies.
The event is free and open to the public.
