Review of T15 Grant Applications [Continuing Education Training Grants]
National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute
National Institutes of Health
January 21, 2011
BACKGROUND
- The purpose of the T15 mechanism is to assist professional schools and other public and non-profit institutions to establish, expand, or improve programs of continuing professional education, especially for programs with new developments in the science or technology of the profession.
- The intent of the award is to assist in establishing the course and not to sustain it over an extended period of time.
- By the end of the original project period of a T15 grant (usually five years), a course should be well-established and self-sufficient through tuition, fees, and other revenue sources.
T15 APPLICATIONS
- T15 applications must be submitted in response to a specific Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) in which NHLBI participates.
- Specific instructions for T15 applications submitted in response to an Institute solicitation can be found in the FOA.
- FOAs can be found at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/index.html
NEW (TYPE 1) APPLICATIONS
- New (Type 1) T15 applications must follow the procedures for submission, as described in the specific FOA.
- Investigators who are considering applying are advised to consult NHLBI staff beforehand.
COMPETITIVE RENEWAL (TYPE 2) APPLICATIONS
- NHLBI will not accept Type 2 (renewal) T15 grant applications. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
